Jeff Sears

Vice President for Strategic Marketing

Jeff Sears is our vice president for strategic marketing who works with clients to determine their short-term and long-term goals, and then provide recommendations on the best strategies and most relevant marketing tactics to advance those goals. He’s a big believer in Meld’s ‘strategy-first’ mantra. Without a guiding strategy, your marketing activities might be a collection of random tactics without a focused purpose and goal.

Jeff joined Meld in April 2018 after nearly 15 years working with Fortune 500 companies in the healthcare (biotechnology, diagnostic, medical device, pharmaceutical) industry.

He has supported healthcare professional education and engagement tactics throughout the research/development, launch, growth, and patent expiration phases of products.

Jeff has also supported a variety of therapeutic areas including neuroscience, psychiatric disorders, cardiovascular, oncology, and osteoporosis. Jeff was known for his expertise in domestic and international thought leader (or key opinion leader) management, designing the KOL engagement program and trainings for a major Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company.

A recognized speaker, trainer, and facilitator, Jeff has presented to more than 20,000 professionals, students, and community members across the globe. He is a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and excels at process development, change management, and crisis management planning.

As an active community leader and volunteer, Jeff serves on the Board of Directors for CommUnity Crisis Services and Food Bank (formerly The Crisis Center) in Johnson County, Iowa.

He also serves as a member of The University of Iowa Healthcare and Clinics Adult Patient and Family Advisory Board and is a trustee for the Iowa City Community Fund.

Jeff volunteers with Iowa Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) as a lifetime professional division member, judge, speaker and coach for national competitions.

Jeff graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in public relations with a minor in speech communication.

Iowa City Farmer’s Market. I always see something new and I like to buy local. My son enjoys eating the blue popcorn sold there.

Thai. When I traveled to Thailand, I took a cooking class at Blue Elephant in Bangkok

The Color Purple. Such a good movie, and always emotional to watch.

Waking up to sound of the ocean and having nothing to do except relax (no agenda, no to-do lists).

Best Advice Received: “Start with the Why.” This is part of my strategy role at Meld, but ultimately, it is important to be grounded in the “why” before going into the details of a tactic or task.

Favorite Thing About Working at Meld: The ability to partner with some talented people to help local businesses reach their customers.
